Rez hosts Awana, for children ages 4-12, on Tuesday nights, September through May. The purpose of Awana is to provide a fun atmosphere where children can "Hide" (Memorize and live out) God's Word in their hearts and meet new friends through small groups and game time.

Family Night with Christian Illusionists David & Teesha Laflin-Sunday April 29

An ordinary table, a simple book, a packing crate.  Or, so you might think.  The reality is that things are not always as they appear, especially when illusionists David and Teesha Laflin are on stage.  David and Teesha have a unique ability to take what we may think is normal and do simply incredible things.  That ordinary table begins to float through the air.  As you think of one word in a simple book your thoughts are revealed- before you say a thing.  A person is handcuffed, tied up in a bag, and locked inside a solid packing crate.  Just seconds later, that same person is now out of the handcuffs, out of the bag, and standing on the crate.  Yet, all the locks are still in place.  Did that really just happen? Come see for yourself!

Join us for Family Night, Sunday, April 29 at 6:30.

There is no cost for the event, but a love offering will be taken.

Awana Teacher Appreciation Night April 17th

Tuesday, April 17th is Teacher Appreciation Night at Awana.

This coming Tuesday night at Awana, we would like to say a BIG thank you to all of our Awana leader’s and we need your help! Awana would not be possible without our amazing team of  over 45 dedicated leaders at Awana each week. This year we have an incredible team and we are so grateful for each and every one of them.
We would like to invite you, all of our Awana families, to join us in celebrating your child’s teacher’s & leader’s.

The possibilities are endless in how you can make someone feel loved and appreciated. Be creative, have fun, and don’t feel obligated to spend money. “Thank You”, in any form, means a lot. Whatever you do, do it from your heart.

Here are just a few suggestions as to what you & your child can do to bless their leaders:
1. Have your child make a card/note for their teacher/leader. You could do this for anyone who is special to your child. (Example: listeners, games & snack leaders, etc.)
2. Bring something yummy for your child to share with their entire class. All classes have 25 or less clubbers in them. (individually packed items only please.)
3. Gift cards are always a fun way to say thanks.
4. Bring your child’s teacher/leader something sweet, or that smells nice. This can even come from your very own flower garden at home.
5. Have your child color or paint a picture for their teacher/leader.

Our Awana teacher’s & leader’s include: class teacher’s, games helpers, listeners, assistant teacher’s, snack helpers and our awards leaders.

Thank you for being apart of blessing our leaders and saying “Thank You” for all they have done for our children.

If you would like to volunteer to become one of our celebrated Awana leader’s, please contact Mr. Matt at the church office anytime. We would love to hear from you!

Awana Grand Prix Race Details

The Awana Grand Prix Race is an optional event that we open up to all Awana clubbers and their families. We offer 4 different categories represented at the Race. Each participant will be placed in an age appropriate category. The 4 categories are Cubbies, Sparks, TNT & our Open Class (made available for parents and siblings of clubbers).

Each person who would like to participate in the Race must purchase an “Awana Grand Prix Car Kit.” (These are available each Tuesday night for $5 in front of Rezcue Island.) Each car kit includes a rectangular block of wood, four wheels, a set of number stickers, and an instruction sheet. All kits have been given a number on the outside of its bag. This is your racing number. You can use the stickers provided on your car, as well as incorporate them in your car’s design. Please be sure to have your number located somewhere on your car.

Banana car design.

This Banana was made out of the same block of wood that is included in the car kit.

The Grand Prix lets the creative juices flow! Each participant can get as creative as they would like to. The design is entirely up to you. Trophies will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in 2 categories. These 2 categories are Speed & Design.

1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies are given for Speed & Design

My family has come up with some crazy ideas over the years. This year we will be racing a “Mator Tow Truck”, a bathtub, “Perry The Platypus”, and a monster truck with a mo-hawk. Truly the possibilities are endless. Be creative!

After each car has been designed, sanded and painted, they will need to be turned in to the Awana leadership by Tuesday, April 10th. We will inspect each car & weigh them. We do this to ensure that the instructions for each car were followed and to be sure that all cars are the same weight. This makes happy racers as well as a fair race.

Feel free to call Mr. Matt at the church office with any further questions. See you Race Day!
