Why Does God Give Us The Things We Ask?

We’ve just finished Week 3, so let’s chat!

Day 1: Commandments Kept  1 John 3:22-23

Do you remember falling in love?  Your heart speeding up at the sound of his voice, butterflies in your stomach when he walks into the room, the longing to be with him when you’ve been apart, or the desire to please him, bring him joy or make him laugh?  We want to please him because we love him!

We want to please God, because we love Him.  We do the things that are pleasing in His sight, like keeping His commandments, and in return we receive from Him whatever we ask.  Not a bad trade!  But, here again, is that word that we’ve talked about the last 2 weeks….Relationship.  Are you in love with your Creator, your Savior, the Lover of your Soul?  Get in his presence today and fall madly in love with Him….He’s waiting…..

Day 2: To Glorify the Father through the Son  John 14:13

God works in our lives so that Jesus may be glorified.  Is there something in your life that you have accomplished and you know that He helped you accomplish it?  Please share your testimony.  Give God the Glory!  He deserves it!!

Day 3: That our JOY may be FULL  John 16:24

He wants us to have fun in our relationship with Him!!! Do you have fun with Jesus?  If not, perhaps you have a image of God that may be holding you back from the fullness of an intimate relationship with Him.  Do you see God as judgmental or mean?  Yes, He provides correction, but He does it with Love and Mercy.  Life with Christ is full of joy and laughter.  It’s exciting!  He gives us the things we ask so that our joy may be full.

Day 4: Blood Covenant  Hebrews 9:22 Hebrews 10:29

Precious Savior and Lord,

May it not be that I would ever overlook the distinction of who You are and what You did for me  Lord, keep me from ever becoming hard-hearted to the fact that Your body was broken and Your blood poured out for me.  Please make my heart more tender to Who You are each and every day.  In the holy name of Jesus.  Amen.

Day 5: Holy Temple  1 Corinthians 3:16

Our bodies are the temple of the Lord.  Do you keep your temple clean…holy?  This isn’t about legalism, laws or formulas.  It’s about relationship.  It’s about walking with Him and Him revealing His holiness to you.  2 Corinthians 7:1 “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

May you have blessed week, beautiful one, feeling butterflies in your stomach, giving glory to Jesus, laughing in His presence, honoring His sacrifice, and walking the Holy Walk!  You are a treasure!

Asking…

Ok, this week we’ve talked about “asking”.  Let’s recap.

Day 1: Ask for what?    Whatever!  1 John 5:14

Have you ever asked God for something and gotten it?  Please feel free to share with us. Was it as wonderful as you thought it would be? Do we really know what we need, though?  Most of the time, we have no idea what we actually need versus what we want but God knows and is more than happy to give it to us.  Do we trust Him to give us what we need?

Day 2: How do we ask?  Boldly!  Hebrews 10:19-23

We are daughters of the King!  The righteousness of Christ! Because of the work that Christ did on the Cross, we are children of God, therefore we can come into His presence anytime we want and ask for whatever we want!  That’s good news!

Day 3: Ask Believing.  Mark 11:23

Do you doubt that God can give you what you need?  You can move mountains if you do not doubt!  You must believe it.  And, you must speak it. What are you saying about your situation?  Do you speak life into it or death?  Read Proverbs 18:21. Speak LIFE!

Day 4: Ask According to His Will.  1 John 5:14

First, we must be in relationship with our Father…daily.  If we are to know what His will is, and ask accordingly, then we must spend time with Him and get to know Him.  His will for our lives may not be what we want for our lives but we can be confident that it IS what’s best for our lives. If you are a parent, can you relate to this?   Spend time with your Father and ask according to His Will.

Day 5: Ask Abiding.  John 15:7

Do you spend time with your Father?  Our study today asks us to give up something and replace it with time spent with Him.  Can you do that?  Will you do that?  As we spend time with Him, our minds will be renewed  and our hearts will be in tune with His.

Please feel free to share any thoughts or comments…..

It’s All In The Asking

Last week we talked about faith and on Day 5 we asked God to “increase our faith”.  But, what else can we ask God for?  WHATEVER!

Mark 11:24; John 14:13; 1 John 3:22 are just a few examples in God’s Word that lets us know He wants us to come to Him and just ask.

But, it’s all through a relationship with Him.  I heard someone say once that God’s not a coke machine that we can put in our “quarter” prayers and out pops an answer…and the one that we wanted.  How’s that for a visual???

So how do we ask?

We have access to the Father, an open door invitation.  Read Hebrews 10:19-23.  We can enter into his presence with boldness as, a daughter of the King, the righteousness of God, and know, by faith, that He who promised is Faithful!

We have been given the right to a high place of honor; children of the King of Kings.  We respect and honor how great and powerful our heavenly Daddy is, but He is our Daddy none the less.  Don’t forget, it’s not by anything that we have or by who we are apart from the blood of Jesus.

More Faith!

“May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children.” Psalm 115:14

Faith is a gift from God.  If Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you have faith, and God gave it to you! James 1:17 says that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” Faith is the first gift in relationship with God and would not exist without Him.

But do we have all we can ever have?

Do you need an increase of faith?

In Luke 17:5 the apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith.  If they needed their faith increased then I’m certain that I do too!  Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6), so ask Him today to increase it, and He will.  Luke 11:9-13 says that He is your Father and will give to you whatever you ask, whoever seeks will find and whoever knocks will have an open door!

So this is the end of Week 1 of our study.  Please feel free to share your thoughts or what God has shown you this week.   Share a testimony so we can all rejoice with you or a prayer request that we can take before the Lord.

Numbers 6:24-26 “May the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace!”

Hopeful or Hopeless?

Do you have a situation that you’re facing that appears hopeless?  I have good news!  Hopeless and desperate times are when the Lord likes to show up.  When you’ve exhausted every resource, when everyone has declared  nothing can be done, it is over, impossible,, too late, etc….  Jesus says, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.  Jesus is our hope.  He is the Resurrection and the Life.  He is our joy, peace, refuge, shelter, provider, strength, and the list goes on and on!

Do you need healing?  Is it a broken heart, a broken body, a broken marriage, broken finances, etc…?

Memorize Psalm 39:7, be attentive to hope’s position.  We may hope for something to come to pass, but our hope is in a Who not a what, the person of Jesus Christ!

Quest for Wholeness

Read Hebrews 11.

Expecting a word from God doesn’t mean you will hear an audible voice, but you may read a sentence or phrase that really piques your interest.  Many times the Lord will use something like this to get your undivided attention and make you curious enough to stop, look and listen to what He wants you to hear.  What is God speaking to you as you read this “Hall of Faith” passage?
