The Senior Adult ministry provides a setting for seniors to connect with other seniors through monthly events and small groups. BBQ’s, Rockies’ games, dinner theatre, and more are all opportunities to meet new friends, see familiar faces and become a launching point for involvement in a small group.

the GatherPoint for Sr Adults: Special Edition

I’ve heard many times from spiritual leaders that “…revival is coming and it will come through our youth…”.  Now I know revival is coming, in fact we are experiencing a growing awakening even now.  I also know that youth will play a significant role in this awaken as they have in virtually every awakening though out history.  But I do have a problem with the exclusivity of the notion that revival’s gateway are youth and youth alone.  This is not biblical.  Joel 2: 28-29 says “…I will pour out my spirit on all mankind, And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions…I will pour out My spirit in those days.”  The word “all” here is “kol” which means; each, every, the whole, entire, it has an inclusive meaning of all or every one of something.  Simply put, ALL

The truth is the kingdom is increasing and we all are called to join in the awaken in and through our lives.  Seniors you are alive for such a time as this.

I’m  calling all Senior Adults to join me for a very special “GatherPoint for Sr Adults” on Sunday, February 26th at 10:30am in the RCS Atrium.  I will be sharing my heart regarding the Senior Adult ministry and making everyone aware of some exciting opportunities before us.  This event will include a hot breakfast (an upgrade from our weekly donuts) and a time of fellowship with other Sr Adults.  The cost for the event is $5 person and you can pay at the event.  We only ask that you RSVP the names of those planing to attend by emailing senioradults@rez.org or call the church office: 970-667-5479.

Dave Roever to speak at November 6th event to honor vets

This years Veterans Honor Event will take place on Sunday, November 6th at 6pm in The Main at Rez.  This event is for everyone young and old alike.  If you have never heard Dave Roever, it is a must.  His miraculous story will amaze you.

Note: There will be an Open House for all veterans from 4pm to 6pm leading up to the event in the Main.  (light refreshments will be served)

Dave Roever grew up in a loving, committed family in South Texas. The last thing on his mind was going to war. At the height of the Vietnam War, he received his draft notice. Having no desire to serve in the infantry, he joined the Navy and served as a river boat gunner in the elite Brown Water Black Beret in Vietnam.

Eight months into his tour of duty in Vietnam, Dave was burned beyond recognition when a phosphorous grenade he was poised to throw exploded in his hand. The ordeal left him hospitalized for fourteen months, where he underwent numerous major surgeries. His survival and life are miraculous.

Today, with his humorous style, Dave Roever is enthusiastically received both nationally and internationally as a public speaker. He is a gifted communicator and speaks in a variety of settings including public schools, military installations, business, men’ s and youth conventions, etc. Dave is a frequent guest on national television talk shows. He established compassionate, ongoing missions work in Vietnam and is involved in other nations.

In every setting, Dave’s message is one of hope. Using his life as an example, he addresses issues relevant to his audience and presents concrete solutions to life’ s problems. Often drawing upon his war experiences of loneliness, peer pressure, disfigurement and pain, as well as life’ s triumphs, Dave weaves a message of courage, commitment and survival that touches and transforms those who hear him. The foundation of his hope is his faith, supported by the wholesome relationships with his parents, wife, children and grandchildren.

Thirty-four years after his injuries, the Department of the Navy corrected its oversight by awarding Dave his Purple Heart, along with several other service medals. Because of his war-time experience of service, injury and recovery, he is uniquely qualified to speak to the needs of military personnel. He is called upon regularly to address troops on domestic military bases as well as those deployed in Iraq and other locations around the globe.
